Gastroenterology

The nursing philosophy that strongly inspires me is Jean Watson’s Caring Science Theory: Caring is showing concern for the feelings of others and doing what we can to make others feel better.  Caring involves more that just carrying out a procedure.  Caring is focusing on the “whole person” including: kindness, empathy, concern and love for others.

What I find rewarding about my area of practice:

I find helping patients through recovery after and illness, which is often one of their greatest challenges, to be the most rewarding.  I am passionate about healthy living, education and caring for others.  I love being able to establish a relationship based on trust that lets me guide my patients to better health.

Why I chose medicine:

I grew up in a poverty stricken country without adequate health care and a lack of justice.  I chose medicine because I want to help people.  I want to make a difference in someone’s life.
